 WBP Constable Selection Process – Details

Let us start with the exam pattern and selection process of recruitment. The selection process of WB Police Constable shall start with a preliminary written test. The preliminary written test will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in the preliminary written test will not be considered for preparing the final selection list. The next stage or step of the recruitment shall be Physical Measurement Test or ( PMT). Next selection would be Physical Efficiency Test. Both PMT and PET shall also be qualifying in nature and candidate shall have only one chance to clear both the test. The next selection process shall be a Final Written Examination.

WBPRB will fix the qualifying marks in the final written examination. Candidates in accordance with merit shall qualify for the next stage which is the Interview. On the basis of Final Written Examination marks and Interview marks, a merit list of provisional selected candidates shall be prepared by WBPRB. Before joining, the WB Police Department will undertake the verification of character antecedents and medical examination of the candidate. The above process is depicted in an image given below –

WB Police Constable Exam Pattern – Details

West Bengal Police Constable Exam Pattern that comes in between the selection process is available here. The first exam is the Preliminary Written Test. So, Let us start with PWT.

Preliminary Written Test(PWT)

PWT will be an MCQ based written Test consisting of 100 objective type questions. The full marks of the exam are 100 while the time duration of this test will be 1 hour. The question paper will be bilingual ( Bengali and Nepali) and there will be a negative mark of ¼ of allotted marks for every wrong answer. PWT will have questions on the following subjects.

  • General Awareness and General Knowledge- 50 Marks
  • Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard)- 30 Marks
  • Reasoning – 20 Marks

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

The PMT will be tested using Electronic Machines as per the standards are given below-

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)    

Candidates who clear PMT will be called to take part in the PET or Physical Efficiency Test. PET shall consist of-

  • 1600 meters run within 06 (six) minutes 30 (thirty) seconds.

Final Written Exam

Qualified candidates for Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Measurement Test (PET) can appear in the Final Written Examination to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The Final Written Examination will be a Multiple Choice (Four choices) Objective Type Questions (MCQs) carrying equal marks each. The exam shall have 85 Questions and will be of 1-hour duration. There will be a negative mark of ¼ marks for every wrong answer attempted. Subjects of the Written Exam shall have questions on-

  • General Awareness and General Knowledge-25 Marks
  • English-25 Marks
  • Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard)- 25 Marks
  • Reasoning and Logical Analysis- 15 Marks

Interview

The Interview shall be of 15 marks, in this test general awareness and suitability of the candidate will be checked by the interview Board.
